Present were Billie Jo, Darrell, Lynnette, Irene, Vern, Virginia, Shorty, Lloyd and Connie. Minutes of the meeting of February 9, 2011 were read and approved. Treasurers report showed a balance of $6,720.29. Lynnette reported that Fuzz and Guns are booked for the night of the 3rd and Deja Vu is booked for the 2nd. Other expenses will be a contribution for fireworks, kids' games which is about $600.00, costs for the cops, advertising, prizes for the car show, extra cost of insurance for the city and anything else that may come up. Lloyd Gardner reported that after we have a budget, we can apply for a grant with Maria Effertz for $3,000.00 that would be a matching grant, to cover expenses also. We were also reminded that we have Dick Johnson and his Blue Grass music set for the park on Friday. We still would like to have a kick-off on Friday evening at the school and discussion was held on how to get the word out about the Senior Citizen King and Queen contest and what would be required of the families or friends taht would want to nominate someone. The candidates will need to be able to attend the festivities and also someone will need to do a brief history on why they should be King or Queen. Billie Joe will get this in the paper. Darrell reported that the Fireman are no real receptive to doing a breakfast, and he had talked to Gallows Motorcycle Club and the Mouse River Sled Runners and neither were interested. Lynnette stated that she would visit with Granville's Band Director and see if he would be able to get the TGU kids together to march in the parade on the 4th of July. Since we have not had a positive response to the court house being open on Saturday for tours, Connie suggested that maybe we try for Friday during office hours from 1 to 4 PM and that way the staff would be there to talk to visitors and show them around. Vern said he would talk to the commissioners about this. No one has heard from Tom Childress lately regarding the Classic Car Show. There was discussion on just having the VFW Hall and vendors/displays open on Saturday only from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM because of the liability of anyone leaving anything in there overnight. Also there should be room for any Towner memorabilia to be displayed should anyone wish to do that. Billie Jo reported she is working on the cookbook and it will be available by the celebration. There was discussion about the Historical Society building, however that is now privately owned so any questions about that would have to be directed to the owners who apparently are Warner and Dallas Knudson and Nordis Wanberg. There was discussion on getting our schedule of events set by May 15th so that placemats could be printed and sold by the Red Hat Ladies. Discussion on the signs for the houses and cost. Connie looked back at Granville's figures and found they had paid Midwest Magic $670.00 for the signs. There being no further business the meeting adjourned. The next meeting was set for Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 7:00 at the school. Respectfully submitted, Connie Jungberg
